Condeleeza Rice stated on Friday that she has no plans to join Senator McCain as a running mate if he becomes the official Republican candidate for the 2008 election. Speculations had been running that Secretary of State Rice was planning on being a potential running mate for McCain, however she refuted this with her comments about herself ever running for an elected office, saying, "I have always said that the one thing that I have not seen myself doing is running for elected office. I didn't even run for high school president. It's sort of not in my genes."
Secretary of State Rice has stated in the past that she had never intended ever as running for president, though comments about that have often been made. She additionally stated that it was not an ambition of hers to endorse or speak out for any candidate in the presidential election, whether as a running mate for vice president or not.
