nader to run for president

The infamous presidential candidate from numerous campaigns, Ralph Nader, has announced that he plans to run for president again for the 2008 election as a third party candidate. The decision comes with plenty of groans from other members of the political realm as memories of both the 2000 and 2004 election come up. Nader was often blamed for the election of President Bush in both, as he took votes away from the Democrat candidate of which his positions would be more closely aligned.

Ralph Nader criticized the other top candidates for the presidential office, namely Senator Obama, Senator Clinton and Senator McCain, stated that they are too close to big business and that instead he will "shift the power from the few to many" if he wins the presidential office. Stating that most Americans are disenfranchised from both major parties, Republican and Democrat, and that "you take that framework of people feeling locked out, shut out, marginalized and disrespected. You go from Iraq, to Palestine to Israel, from Enron to Wall Street, from Katrina to the bumbling of the Bush administration, to the complicity of the Democrats in not stopping him on the war, stopping him on the tax cuts", he has decided in this context to run for president.

However, Governor Huckabee made the statement that considering what Nader's past encounters with politics has produced, Republicans should gladly welcome him as a third party candidate on the presidential ticket.
